The Gloria Kriete Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID) celebrated the graduation of 128 young men and women who, in a single ceremony,
received their diploma and a scholarship for higher education in technical or long-term careers
at one of the 21 allied universities.
Oportunidades, Gloria Kriete Foundation’s flagship educational project, has been working for 15 years to empower young people in El Salvador through education, digital transformation, and job training. It is a unique program in the region, which intervenes throughout 8 years,
beginning with the student’s enrollment.
“With the arrival of COVID-19, our classrooms moved into the homes of our young people. We
provided computers and internet to those who did not have access to them, so that their
education would not be interrupted. The class of 2021 is the second group of students to
receive most of their classes online; thanks to the support of a committed staff, to our
reinvention and to the full adaptation of education through our virtual campus. All the young
people in the class of 2021 transitioned and adjusted to the new virtual academic arrangements in an exceptional manner” said Juana Jule, General Director of the Oportunidades Program and Executive Director of the Gloria Kriete Foundation.
Since 2007, a total of 3,597 young men and women have been marked by the stamp of the
program. Hundreds of them tell their stories of success and personal growth. Currently, there
are more than 800 young people working in various productive municipalities in the country
and in different sectors of society.
